Fenit Under 13s vs Asdee
Fenit 3-2 Asdee
On a beautiful Saturday morning our under 13s faced a strong Asdee side which we knew would be a tight game given the thriller these teams had out in Asdee months earlier. Fenit were missing a few key players for numerous reasons so were forced to bring in a few of the under 12s team. Credit to these players who showed their worth and contributed not only to a great win but a fantastic team performance playing some excellent passing football throughout the game.
The game started at a frantic pace with both teams trying to get the upper hand and both sides creating numerous chances early in the game. Within ten minutes Asdee got a well worked goal which gave Fenit the kick the needed to step up their game. We then pushed on to create numerous chances but lacked the finishing touch. Because of this we were soon punished with a very good Asdee goal from a well worked counter attack. At this point things were not looking good for this young fenit side but credit must be given to all players for the master class they gave for the rest of the game not only in their style of play but the effort and work rate by each player was phenomenal and a credit to themselves. Just before the half the ever threatening Cian Donnelan went on a excellent run and finished past the Asdee keeper giving Fenit a lifeline going into the 2nd half. While the scoreline didn’t reflect our performance at the half the side knew that a similar performance in the second half would see the result come good. Again in the 2nd half Fenit came out playing a a very high tempo and began to dictate the game with Sean Vieux and Jamesy lynch dominating proceedings in midfield. Full backs Con Marley and Micheal Kirby were having excellent performances and their distribution was key to so many Fenit attacks. Again the quality of having a good striker proved key when Cian Donnelan went on to score two fantastic goals and put his side in the lead. in the final minutes asdee piled on the pressure but the fenit back line stayed resilient and were determined to gain the well deserved three points. Credit to the players for showing the character to come back from a situation where many teams would have crumbled. They again showed the great strides they are taking and the rate of improvement both individually and as a team. It is hard to pick out any individuals as every player was outstanding but most noticeably would be Con Marley, Dara heim and Cian donnelan. Many thanks to the very promising Asdee side for a great game.
