All Schoolboys & Schoolgirls games were off due to the weather warning last Saturday Oct 5th.
Division 1 – Samphires 5 v 0 Ballyhar Dynamos (Scorers: JJ Prior (2), Des MacCarthy (2), Cian Mc Kenna)
The game started a bit scrappy but Fenit grew into it as the half progressed and started to gain more control. Jj Prior latched onto a perfectly weighted Dara Heim through ball to finish past the on rushing keeper. We didn’t have to wait long to double our lead when Dylan Flynn reversed a ball into the path of Cian McKenna to score to make it 2 – 0 at half time. Despite the change in conditions making things tough for both teams in the second half we picked up where we left off and went 3 up when Cian rolled in Des McCarthy to finish from a tight angle. Our dominace continued and were 4 up when Des finished after some brilliant wide play from Billy Walsh. With no signs of letting up we made it 5 when JJ slotted home from another clever Cian through ball. Another encouraging performance to maintain our 100% start and great to make it 3 clean sheets in a row. We welcome Ballingarry next week in the FAI Junior second round as we look to continue our strong start to the season.
Division 4 – Lenamore B 0 v 4 Samphires B (Scorers:Billy Walsh, Sean Dowling, Michael O Brien, Oran Murphy )
Best performance yet from our Bs as they dominated from start to finish. The game started fairly even but we grew into it and some good build up play along the right hand side led to Sean Dowling crossing low for Billy walsh to finish at the back post around the 10 minute mark. The rest of the half was contested pretty evenly with dave chute commanding his box well from any long balls that leanmore sent forward with the strong wind in their favour.Second half we got off to another good start as a low Oran Murphy corner was turned in by Sean Dowling. Lenamore struggled to create anything meaningful as we grew in confidence . Michael O Brien cooly round the keeper to tap in from an Oran Murphy through to ball to put the game to bed. And with the last play of the game Oran Murphy put the icing on the cake as he headed home a Billy Walsh cross.
Division 4 – Samphires B 2 v 2 Mainebank B (Scorers: Michael O’Brien, Billy Walsh)
U15 Girls Premier Listowel 3 v 1 Samphires
A much improved performance from the team this week saw us push a strong Listowel team all the way in a rainy Listowel this morning. 1-1 at halftime thanks to a great strike by Abi and no shortage of heart and fight but we came undone by 2 good Listowel strikes in the second half. As usual our teams never say die attitude and spirit was again very clear today! Well done girls. Keep it up
U13 Girls, Division 1 Samphires 3 vs 0 MEK (Scorers: Ella Clarkin Sayers, Hannah Barrett-Neziri (2))
The rain held off for our U13 match last Saturday in Fenit. MEK’s goal keeper made some incredible saves in the first half and put our strikers under pressure. Grace Fitzgibbon (12) for Fenit made terrific runs on the wing with Lucy Dillon (6) setting her up with some very nice passes. Our first goal was scored by our CDM Ella Clarkin Sayers (7). Hannah Barrett-Neziri (10) scored a couple of goals under a lot of pressure from MEKs defence. It was an exciting game with MEK displaying “never say die” attitude. Well done to our Samphires girls on the victory. Training and team spirit wins the day again!
