Hannah Barrett Neziri

A great week for our U13 girls Hannah Barrett Neziri! Not only did she make this weeks Roll of Honour for her hat-trick against Tralee Dynamos but has also made the Kerry u13 squad! Well done Hannah!

Sunday September 22nd

Division 1 Samphires A 2 v 0 Tralee Dynamos B (Scorers: Des McCarthy, OG)

A very good performance from our A team as they picked up all three points in an entertaining contest with Tralee Dynamos in Samphire Park this morning. All throughout we played some lovely football and opened the scoring when Des headed home after some neat passing opened up the visitors defence. 1-0 at half time.
The second half was a cagey affair as Dynamos tried to find a way back but we stood firm when defending. We doubled the lead when a Dynamos player turned the ball into his own net and we controlled the remainder of the game to see out the result.

Division 4 Samphires B 2 v 2 Mainebank B (Scorers: Michael O’Brien, Billy Walsh)

The B team picked up a hard earned draw at home to a physical Mainebank team. Again, we played some nice football throughout and looked to keep the ball on the ground as much as possible. We took the lead when Mixer found the bottom corner with a clinical finish. 1-0 at half time.
The second half was a different story as Mainebank forced their way back into the game, scoring twice in quick succession to take the lead. But our lads dragged their way back into the game after this and we created several chances to grab the equaliser. Billy Walsh finally found the net after being put through on the keeper. A deserved draw, and probably a game where we were unlucky not to grab all three points.
****
All in all, a great day of football in Samphire Park today. It was brilliant to see so many watching the games- especially great to see some members of our u15 girls team there with their coaches to watch and support the lads.

Sunday September 15th

Emerald Eagles 0 v 5 Samphires A – 5 (Scorers: Cian McKenna (3), Ger McCarthy (2))

Killorglin C 1 v 0 Fenit Samphires B

Mixed fortunes for our seniors last week with the A team recording a comfortable victory in the first round of the Munster Junior Shield while our B team narrowly lost out to Killorglin C in their first league outing of the year. Lots of positives from both teams and plenty to build on for the rest of the season.Training continues next week and any new players interested in joining are more than welcome.

U15 Boys: Samphires 4 v 3 Inter Kenmare B (Scorers: Conor Finn(3), Adam Duffy)

In a rollercoaster game we came out on top after an exciting finish. Defences struggled throughout with both teams creating many chances. Kenmare started the game in total control, but somehow we managed to keep them out. After 20 minutes we had our first attack and Conor Finn provided a fine finish after we put some passes together. After some positional changes we got parity and had another few chances ourselves. Despite that, we managed to go in 2 – 1 down at halftime after some really poor decision making. The second half was crazier with both teams leading at various times and nobody could predict who would win. Adam Duffy, who was superb in this half, scored a bullet header for us and 2 more from Conor saw us in the lead with 5 minutes to go, scoring the winner after a very clever pass fron Gary Parker. We had to defend very deeply to keep Kenmare out which we did by the skin of our teeth to win 4-3 in the end.

Boys U14s: Fenit B 0 v 5 Dingle A

Our 14B team were on the receiving end of a thrashing last weekend from a strong Dingle team. We did not meet the challenge and we can’t complain about the result. Going forward, out team will have to decide to compete more forcefully.

U13 Girl’s LB Rovers 0 v 3 Samphires (Scorer Hannah Barrett Neziri)

Well done to the girls 13s who had a win over LB in a midweek match last week. We were solid at the back, our team being very organised. Hannah was a thorn for LB throughout and scored 3 for the second consecutive match. Well done to all the squad again.

U13 Boys: Dingle A 5 v 0 Samphires A

A poor day for the 13As who travelled to Dingle and lost badly to Dingle. We can have no excuses as Dingle were much sharper than us in many aspects of the game.

U13 Boys: Samphires B 3 v 1 Castleisland B (Scorers: Eoghan Farrelly, Padraig Whelan, )

Well done to the 13s who had a victory last week after 3 well taken goals by our lads. The pick of the bunch was Padraig’s with a screamer from distance into the roof of the net.

U12 Girls: LB Rovers 1 v 1 Samphires

U12s vs LB Rovers Sept 2024

U12 Boys Samphires B 2 v 0 LB Rovers (Scorers: OG, Cian O’Sullivan)

In less than ideal conditions our Div 1 team continued their impressive start to the season with a hard fought win against LB Rovers. An OG and a goal from Cian O Sullivan was enough to decide the issue but the hard work on show from all players especially our defence was great to see. A well deserved victory for this young team.

U12 Boys: Samphires 2 v 0 Castleisland (Scorers: Fionn McCarthy, Cian O’Sullivan)

Our 12s won their second game of the season with a good win over a strong Castleisland side. We played quite well throughout, especially the lads at the back and those coming in off the bench. Áron Keating and Peadar Stack CDM were 2 of our best players on the night but well done to all the squad.
