Boys U12s: Samphires 3 v 2 Park (Scorers:Kian Skretny ,Daniel Lawlor, Conor James)
Following a long break between our last league game we played the league final against a brilliant Park team who were technically very strong from GK all the way through the team. They controlled the game for long periods and our rustyness was evident in the first 10 minutes where we rode our luck and relied heavily on Sonny in goals and out excellent back 3 of Fionn Lyons, Conor Walsh and Oran Flaherty. As the game went on the pace and confidence of Kian Skretny started to show down the left with Ben Stack, Fiacra Slattery, Aran Keating and Daniel Lawlor getting more and more on the ball. A break down the right and switch to the left saw Kian put us one up and shortly later a blistering shot from captain Daniel put us 2 to the good. Park came back strong to make it 2-1 going in at half time. Conor James, Garret Lovett came on in the second half but Park deservedly drew level and were very unlucky not to go ahead, but a great push with 6 mins left up stood Conor James to put us 3-2 ahead with a very nervy last few minutes where Sonny was outstanding. Couldnt be prouder of the lads including Seadhna Kelly, Conor McCarthy, MJ Locke and Padraig Whelan who didnt get a run today but were a really important part of the squad. Thanks to a really good Park team, Warren and Danny and ref Denny.
Recently, Samphires Ladies Soccer Group played a game in awful conditions in Ardfert against Dingle Bay Rovers. Honours even on the night. Thanks to Dingle for travelling.
Since then we also played Ballyhar in Fenit and again there were some fantastic skills on show. Well done to Ballyhar who were victorious on the day.
We continue to train every Thursday 7.30 to 9 in Fenit. New players always welcome…
Well done to the Kerry ETP squad in the Barcelona Cup a few weeks ago. Fenit Samphires are well represented by Dara Harty, Eoin Mangan and Mikey Corridan. Hope they enjoyed their international debuts!
Men Seniors: Samphires 3 v 0 Castlemaine (Scorers: Dylan Flynn, Kevin Burrowes, Joe Carmody)
Last weekend we played Castlemaine in the league in Fenit. We played quite well and were deserving winners on the day.
Girls U14s: Listowel 1 Fenit Samphires 3 (Scorers:Erin Harty (2), Abi Kearney)
A warm morning in Listowel last week was the scene of our last league game this morning. We got off to a strong start against a good Listowel side and went 2 goals up by half time thanks to two strikes by Erin Harty after great work by Ava. Second half saw an increase in pressure and we conceded a goal from a free kick before we settled once more and a fantastic strike by Abi Kearney sealed the points. An all round magnificent team display by all members of the team who worked so hard and got their rewards with a well earned victory. Thanks to Listowel for a sporting game👏⚽
Boys U13s: Samphires B 2 v 4 Camp (Scorers: Kian Skretny, Ben Stack)
Our 13s team lost to the top team in our division last weekend in a great game. We played very well throughout and dominated for good parts of the game. Our team had some 12s and 11s playing and all acquitted themselves very well. The game was level for a long time but with 10 to go Camp scored to make it 2-1. We changed formation to get an equaliser and though we scored one, they scored 2 on the counter. So 4-2 to Camp but we gave it plenty and our fellas can be happy with their display.
