Boys U14s: Killarney Celtic 3 – 4 Samphires (Scorers Mikey Corridan (3), Dara Harty (Pen))
A great performance mid-week from U14’s against a strong Killarney Celtic team under lights in Killarney. We started brightly and played some nice passing before Mikey Corridan got on the end of a looped pass over the top from Michael O’Sullivan to nod over the keeper. Celtic fought back however and equalised quickly with a break down our left side. We conceded another after some poor tackling leading to a stabbed finish from their centre forward. 2-1 to Celtic at half-time.
The 2nd half was back and forth but we got an equaliser through a fine finish from Mikey after a through ball from Evan Lyons. We then had a purple patch with another finish from Mikey and a penalty from Dara Harty after he was brought down in the box.
Celtic pulled one back right at the end to ensure a tense final few minutes but we held for a deserved win. Great performances from all – we still need to work on our defending and getting tackles in quicker but our passing out was much better and we had some lovely moves in midfield to create chances. Best on the night for Fenit Sean Cronin at left back.
