Seniors lose out on penalties in Final
Castleisland AFC A 1-1 (pens 4-3) Fenit Samphires
We had hard luck last Sunday in the KDL Challenge Cup Final in Tralee against a tough Castleisland side. In a very close match that could have gone either way we lost out on penalties. After 90 minutes it was nil all with both defences being on top. In the first half of extra time we took the lead but were pulled back after the break and from there on neither team could force the winner. So on to penalties and unfortunately it didn’t work out for us, losing 4-3 in the end.
With all that said, this has been a good competition for us, with great credit going to manager David Henessey and all his squad. All the players have shown a very good attitude towards training and it has shown in games where we have matched many of the best teams in the county. We have also seen some new faces from the younger ranks in the club pushing for places so it bodes well for the coming season which is already looming.
So after a tough year, we now look forward to a proper season starting in September where will compete in Premier B. The lads will now have a short but well deserved break and then it’s back to training for the new season.
