The first Samphires team to play this season were our U13s last Tuesday away to the Park B team.
It was a smashing evening for a match which ended up 2-1 in our favour after a great match keenly contested by 2 sporting teams. It was a fantastic result for our lads who had a tough time last season. David Ryle in goals was superb pulling off a string of top class saves at vital times. The back 4 were Michael Kirby,Jack Falvey,Colm Healy and Tom Greaney who gelled very well especially as the game wore on. In midfield we had the hardworking Liam Tuite and Cian Donnellan on the wings who ran and ran causing all sorts of trouble for our opponents. In the middle Keaven McElligott and Jamsie Lynch gave us a great foothold in the game,Keaven with his astute passes and Jamsie with his defensive work.Up front we had Adam Dolan and Dara Heim who posed a threat throughout. Indeed it was a throughball from Adam to Dara which resulted in our first goal.We introduced Conor Gaynor,Jonathon Trant,Niall Cassidy,Con Marley and Max Downing in the second half and all can be happy with their evening’s work.We had Ciaran Tuite and Conor Lenihan on the sideline too but both were injured but great to see the 2 of them at the game.We got the winner with 15minutes to go through Cian Donnellan after a good move involving Keaven,Max,Conor,Jonathon and Cian.Well done to all and let’s see you at training. We probably need to work on our defending and finishing as we conceded many chances in the first half and didn’t finish the many chances we created ourselves.
