Seniors: Tralee Dynamos 0 v 3 Samphires (Scorers Ben Warren (2), Daniel Clinton)

Well done to our Senior team who won in Tralee against Dynamos in the league last Sunday where conditions were quite tough to play in. We were 1 up at the half and added a second early in the second. Daniel wrapped up the points for us with 20 left with a good finish after some good build up play from the back.

Boys U17s: Ratoo Rovers 7 v 1 Samphires (Scorer Conor Gaynor)

We suffered a bad defeat against Ratoo Rovers last weekend. Our team are finding results hard to come by but good attendance at training by the lads is a positive and hopefully we will bounce back from this setback going forward.

Our U15s: Listowel 2 v 0 Samphires

We travelled to Listowel last weekend for an away fixture. All the teams in our division seem evenly matched and this game had all the looks of one that would be decided by whichever team scored first. We had an excellent first half but were unable to capitalise on the goal chances we created. The second half saw more chances for both sides until with 10 mins remaining Listowel scored from a set piece free kick. It was a good game overall and bar our finishing we can be pleased with how we played and how the team is improving. Dylan Harris and Danny Jeffers played very well for us.

Girls U14s: Camp 4 v 0 Samphires

On Saturday the U14 Girls took on Camp in the KDL in Mounthawk. Fenit started very strongly on the back of some great defensive work. Aoife Greaney, Kayleigh Williams, Clara O Dowd and Ciara Dowling all played excellent backed up by Katie Hussey in goal.

We had 3 chances on the Camp goal in the first half but luck was not on our side. Saoirse O Donavan and Orlaith Mc Kenna made some great runs at the Camp defence backed up by Rosie Falvey, Laura Reilly, Mairead Stack and Daisy Nowak in midfield . However just before half time Camp made the breakthrough with a goal against the run of play. In the second half the wide open spaces of the large KDL pitch began to tell a little and maybe the long Christmas break played a factor as Camp came more into the game. They scored 3 goals in the space of 15 mins which put an unfair look on the scoreline. We continued to play and created a number of chances for Muireann O Brien and Rachel Feely up front. Grace Stack, Caoimhe Carmody and Margaret O Halloran came in and did a fine job in defence, while Sive O Donavan, Dervla Jeffers came into midfield and covered a huge amount of ground.

While this was an especially disappointing result, given the effort, this was a great experience for the girls to play on the full size astro in the KDL. All the girls gave it their all and will be rewarded in the coming games if this level of effort is maintained

Boys U11s: (Scorers Jayden Deady (2))

We held our very first fixture in Samphire Park for the U11 North Premier League. This is a 7 aside competition involving 8 teams and 7 games. The outcome will determine the division these players will play at U12’s next year. Our first match was at home against LB Rovers in what was a very competitive match. In the first half Samphires took the lead from a fantastic cross where the ball was headed home in style. Both sides used the ball out wide to good effect and both sets of defenders where called to action several times in the first half. LB rovers deserved their equalizer and took the lead on the stroke of half time. We had 19 players ready for action and this was to play a major factor in the 2nd half. All 19 players played some part of the match but this can be very challenging when playing 7 aside. LB Rovers started the stronger in the 2nd half and went 3-1 ahead with a fantastic through ball . Both goal keepers were in fantastic form with some fantastic saves to be seen. While making a lot of substitutions Fenit got the upper hand in the 3rd quarter and where one on one with the goal keeper 3 times. 3 great saves ensured LB rovers would come out the better in this one and while Fenit got a goal late in the 3rd quarter LB responded and the score ended 5-2 to LB. Our team can be very proud of their performance as each and everyone of them put in a huge work rate. Going forward we will try and make two teams for this age group as the squad is huge ….. well done to all involved.
