Under 11: Iveragh 2 v 4 Samphires  (Scorers Cian McKenna (2), Tom Quilter, Jayden Deady)

A perfect day for soccer for our U11’s away to Iveragh. We fielded a strong team against Iveragh with a 4-4-2 setup. In the first half Iveragh played all the soccer and really had us on the back foot. They went two goals up and deserved this lead going into the half time interval. The managers made some much needed changes to strengthen the team both in defence and attack. This paid dividends early in the 2nd half with Fenit pressurizing the Iveragh defence and forcing them into making mistakes. Within 8 minutes we got our first goal and this was the match changer. Fenit played some good soccer and went chasing the equalizer. Two quick goals put us ahead and we were looking comfortable. Finally a  late goal sealed the victory and we won out comfortably winners in the end 4-2. The quality we are seeing at training every week is starting to come through and hopefully we will push on now in the new year and keep on improving.

Under 17: Listowel 2 v 2 Samphires  (Scorers Keaven McElligott, Gavin Hussey)

Well done again to the 17s who made the journey to Listowel for a league fixture last Saturday. It finished 2 all after a game that swung both ways.
We went 1 up in the first half and added a second early in the second. After this Listowel put on the pressure and in the last 20 minutes scored twice including 1 penalty. Again we can see that the team is getting better all the time. It was great too to see the whole squad travel to the match with 20 players available for the game.

Under 15: Samphires 3 v 3 Tralee Dynamos  (Scorers Eddie McCarthy (2, 1 pen), Danny Jeffers)

Dynamos scored an early goal to go 1 nil up. Fenit kept their heads high and responded with two goals before half time. Goal 1 was scored by Danny Jeffers who continues to impress, the second by Eddie McCarthy. Half time score 2-1. Dynamos opened the second half with another early goal to make it  2-2. We pressed on and regained the momentum and after a period of good pressure were awarded a penalty. Eddie McCarthy scored the penalty to put us 1 up again. We defended quite well and were unlucky to concede a penalty towards the end. It finished 3 all with both sides pleased that each had played well. Our men of the match were Dylan Harris at left back and Christopher Nolan centre midfield but each of our players played his part.

Under 12 Girls: A great battling performance by the U12s against Kenmare at a lovely sunny Samphire Park last Saturday. Some really great defending and some great saves from Shauna Harris kept us in it throughout. This team really give it everything and skill level is improving week on week. Keep it up!
