Results Dec 2nd-3rd

Girls U10s: A historic evening on Friday the 1st of December for our U10 girls as Fenit Samphires played their very first U10 girls team away to Camp.

We fielded two teams of 7 and both teams defended brilliantly and attacked like the pro’s. We are so proud of them. Just to top off a very fun evening both Samphires teams won their matches….. team A 2-0 and team B 2-1. Samphires ABU ?
U10: Our U10s had a great day last Sat afternoon with a challenge at home to Camp. Well done to all the lads and their mentors for their great performance. Great to see.
Seniors : Samphires 1 v 1 Listowel (Scorer Chris Murphy)
A match played in tough conditions but both teams were looking to get the ball down and pass it. We were positive from the off with Daniel Clinton, Chris Murphy and Bill causing some problems early on but chances were few and far between in the first half. Both teams would have felt they could go on and win the game after the half time break. Our midfield 3 of John Keane, Peter McCarthy and Sean Foley were excellent throughout and we played some lovely, simple football during the second half. The game changed however when the ref awarded Listowel a fairly soft penalty which they converted. But we dug in and pulled back a goal shortly after. Chris Murphy got the goal after some good interplay on the left wing. We introduced some fresh legs during the half as the conditions started to take their toll but neither team could force a winner. All in all a decent result in tough conditions. Thanks to Listowel for a sporting game.
U15: Ballyhar Dynamos 2 v 1 Samphires (Scorer Niall Cassidy )
Our U15 lost 2-1 away to Ballyhar Dynamos. The first halftime was fairly even, with both sides enjoying some possession on the ball. Fenit conceded a penalty in this half but for the second time in the last three games Paddy O’Sullivan, who was captain for the match, produced a fine save to keep the score 0-0 going into halftime. In the second half Ballyhar started upping the tempo and were rewarded with two goals. Fenit didn’t give up and with about ten mins to go, Niall Cassidy headed in a goal for Fenit from a free kick delivered by Christopher Nolan. A few minutes later déjà vu nearly occurred with Niall getting to the end of another Chris free kick but unfortunately it didn’t go in and the game ended 2-1. Special thanks to Eoghan Burns for helping out on the sideline for the game.
U13: Samphires 7 v 1 Killarney Ath ‘B’ (Scorers Oisin McGibney(3), Billy Doyle(2), Tiernan O’Sullivan)
Well done to the 13s at the weekend as we got back to winning ways with a good win against a game Killarney Ath team. A decent display all round with all 17 players getting game time with everyone contributing. We were 3 up at half time after dominating the game but had to be able to defend well at times when Athletic counter attacked. Defensive players Josh Elvins, Billy Walsh, Tomas Godley, Gary O’Riordan and Alex McGrath were excellent though and kept them scoreless. On the wings Paddy Falvey, Barry Hamilton and Donagh Murphy posed a threat throughout. We added 4 in the second half with the game getting stretched. Well done to everyone on the day. Keep it up
U11: Samphires 2 v 2 MEK (Scorers Jayden Deady, Tom Quilter)
The U11’s boys team played their 3rd league match at home to Mid East Kerry. We fielded a 9 a side team in what was a very competitive match. Fenit are really starting to play as a team and the passing was direct and with precision. Fenit had 70% of the possession and deserved their 1 nil lead at half time. The 2nd half was frustrating for Fenit as several opportunities just went wide and while Fenit held the majority of possession MEK got an equalizer against the run of play. Fenit picked the pace up half way through the 2nd half and took the lead and looked very likely to get their first win. In the dying seconds MEK got a free and a deflection saw it the back of net for the game to end in a draw. Fenit left this one behind but can take away a lot from this game especially the great passing.
