Girls U14s: Our U14 girls travelled last Saturday to play away against Killarney Athletic on a cold and wintry day. We were defeated but the scoreline doesn’t do us justice. We started really well in tough conditions but Killarney were first to settle and went into two goal lead. Our girls started to come into it with some great defending at the back by  Clara O’Dowd and Aoife Greaney. Following  a great run on the right wing by Orlaith McKenna , Saoirse O’Donovan scored – the first ever goal for the Samphires girls teams in a competitive match. Killarney scored a third before half time against the run of play and despite some great work in goals by Laura Reilly. In the 2nd half it was evenly matched with Kayleigh Williams, Rosie Falvey doing great work at the back. Killarney scored a couple of breakaway goals to put a gloss on the scoreline in the last couple of minutes. Saoirse O’Donovan was very close at the end to doubling the score for Fenit. This group of girls give it their all and are putting in the work at training and improving each week.
