The season didn’t have a great finish for the Seniors and Youth teams. The Seniors were soundly beaten by Killarney Celtic in our last game which we needed to win to qualify for the Kerry Premier League final. It was a big ask and it worked out that way. It was a good season overall bar our last 2 matches against Killarney Celtic and we will finish either 3rd or 4th depending on how the final matches pan out.
The Youth team were down for a league fixture away to Listowel on Saturday 24th . Unfortunately we were unable to field a team given the weekend that was in it after most of the lads had just completed the Leaving Cert and had other things arranged. This kept us out of the Youth final but we still won the Kerry Cup and Kerry Area final of the Munster Youth during the year. Indeed we had a very creditable performance away to the eventual winners Leeside FC of Cork (who also won the FAI Youth Cup) going down 3-1 after a great battle.
The club would like to thank the managers of both teams Batt McCarthy and Peter McCarthy (Seniors) and Dave Stanton (Youths) for their efforts during the season which started for both teams last August. Thanks too to anyone else who helped with the teams during the year. Finally thank you especially to the players for their sustained efforts throughout the long season.
