U18s Through To League Final

Our U18 team had a great victory last weekend over a gallant Mastergeeha team in the semi final of the league. This match was a repeat of last year’s final which we lost so it was helter skelter from the start right to the end. Mastergeeha came into the match slightly understrength but this only served to make them more determined. We had to match this intensity but with Thomas Lenihan, Bobby O’Regan we had lads who worked tirelessly in the middle third to give us a platform. Oisin O’Brien and Dara O’Connor on the wings and with Luke Moynihan and Sean Higgins up front we had a cutting edge. Oisin scored after 20 minutes and repeated the dose 10 minutes after some good play out from the back by Austin Clifford, Antoin Stanton and Tommy Lynch. A superb pass from Bobby to Luke ended up in the net on 40 minutes. 2nd Half – we kept on about our business in this half with Sean Donnellan scoring to make it 4-0 to Samphires. Even though the goals went in for us, Mastergeeha were always in the game and nothing was conceded by either team at any stage. Both teams made subs as the unusually warm weather took it’s toll. We introduced Darren Chester, Sean Collins and Christopher Murphy and all did their bit. Geeha finished stronger than us and scored 2 goals to even up the scoreline a bit as 4-0 would not have reflected the game. Well done to both teams for such a good game.
