17s into League Final

Team photoLast Saturday we made the short journey into Tralee where we were away to St Brendan’s Park FC in the league semi final. We hadn’t played a game in 6 or 7 weeks and the gap to the Park’s last game was even longer. So it really was up in the air for both teams to see if either could replicate the form they showed when they were playing regularly. and both teams were also down players as some were away on summer holidays. It is difficult to see why the league can’t be finished in May as most clubs are happy to play and would like to play every second week at least. As it turned out we did it better on the day and we ran out comfortable winners. Our scorers on the day were Christopher Murphy, Oisin O Brien, Sean Higgins and John Dillane. We were much the better team in the first half and were 2 up after 20 minutes. We had to defend for a while after this as the Park rejigged things but increased our lead  after some excellent counter attacking play. We scored again soon after to make it 4 at the half. It seemed the game was wrapped up after 60 minutes when we made it 5 but the Park all of a sudden got their game together and rattled off 3 goals and it was 5 -3 with 10 minutes to go. But our boys upped the ante once again and it finished 8-3. Well done to all the lads and thanks to all who came in to support.
