17s Continue Good Run

Last Saturday our U17 team continued their recent good form with a good victory at home against a game Asdee team. It was a windy enough day with a stiff northerly crosswind which caused both teams a bit of difficulty especially in the first half. We had the lion’s share of the ball in the game but it wasn’t really until the second half when we took our time on the ball and used the wings that we looked comfortable. We were 2 – 0 after 35 minutes after some good finishes by David Murphy and Sean Higgins but in the 43rd minute we needlessly gave away a free, defended it too deeply and conceded a sloppy goal. In the second half our midfielders of Dylan Ronan, Louis Ryle, Thomas Dwyer, Gary Nolan, Thomas Lenihan and Bobby O Regan(at various times) got into their stride and moved the ball a bit quicker which made the difference. In defence Eoghan O Brien, Jamie Hogan, Padraig O Connor, Jack Kelliher, Paul Nolan all played well in general after a slow start and their intelligent distribution of the ball started many of our attacks. Our scorers in the 2nd half were Luke Dalton, Bobby O’Regan, David Murphy and Eoghan O’Brien(pen).A big thanks too to the lads who have Samphire Park in such good condition.
