Killarney Celtic B-1

Our senior team got back to winning ways at a very wet Samphire Park on Sunday morning. The conditions weren’t ideal for free flowing football but we started the game very well and began to dominate possession. James Sweeney and Bill Mullins were causing the Killarney Celtic defence all sorts of problems as they linked up well with Ger McCarthy up front. We took the lead when Ger McCarthy finished well after a superb counter attacking move started by Kieran O’Mahony. We dominated the rest of the half as Peter McCarthy and Ruairi Kelly dictated play from the middle and we created plenty of chances. We finished the half 4-0 in front following goals from James Sweeney, Kevin Walsh and Bill Mullins.

Killarney Celtic started the second half strongly and put us under a lot of pressure which our back four of David O’Sullivan, John Maher, Darren Lynch and Kieran O’Mahony dealt with excellently. Killarney Celtic pulled a goal back from a corner and could have scored a second only for Eoghan O’Brien to make an excellent save as the ball headed for the top corner. We settled down again after the early pressure from Killarney Celtic and the introduction of Darragh O’Shea and Jack McCarthy gave us some much needed energy. Bill scored his second goal with a cheeky backheel finish after taking the ball around the goalkeeper. Thanks to Killarney for a sporting game in difficult conditions.

Senior training continues on Friday evening at The Complex.
