17s Edged Out In Killarney

Last weekend our under 17 team were away to one of the contenders for the league Killarney Celtic. It was probably a day to stay in front of the fire but nevertheless the game went ahead on their all weather pitch. We have been training in the all weather pitch in Banna Beach Hotel recently so at least we were a little familiar with the surface. Most people had us written off before the game except the players and at half time it was 3 all. Our goals came through David Murphy who took advantage of a slip by their keeper to put us 1 up. We then conceded 2 through good attacking play by them but maybe we might have been a little more tenacious in our defence. Gary Nolan scored a scorcher to equalise and David scored yet again to put us 3-2 up but we forgot the golden rule to tighten up staright after scoring and conceded a soft one to make it 3 each. The second half was tighter but we faded a little towards the end and conceded 2 late goals, the last being a dubious penalty. Nevertheless we have had a decent run in the league recently and hope to push on from here.
