Under 16s Lose But Give A Good Account Of Themselves

Hard luck to the Under 16 team last weekend who lost 7-1 eventually to a strong Park team in a premier division league match. The match was close for the first half and we went in 2-1 down – Bobby O Regan out scorer from the spot after Thomas Lenihan even though he was carrying an injury, bravely contested for a ball but was upended in the box. Unfortunately for us this also ended Thomas’ participation in the game. We conceded 2 soft goals early in the second half which finished the game as a contest but tried manfully for the next 25 minutes to get one back and were unlucky on a number of occasions. We ran out of steam with 10 minutes to go and conceded 3 late one which was a bit harsh on the lads performance. But for most of the game we were competitive against maybe the strongest team in the league.Best for us were the O’ Regan brothers, Brian and Bobby,Cormac O’ Brien, Oisin O’Brien and we welcomed Jack McCarthy back for Thomas when he got injured and he made a telling contribution.
