U13s Get Away Victory

A big well done to the Under 13 squad who won away to Asdee last Saturday on a scoreline of 3-2. It was a very good game and we felt we just about shaded it in the end. We started the better and Keaven McElligott put us 1 up midway through the first half, a lead we held till half time in a keenly contested match.David Ryle in goals and his defensive quartet of Michael Kirby,Colm Healy,Conor Gaynor and Dara Heim held out against anything that was thrown against them. In front of them were Liam Chute,Jamsie Lynch,Cian Donnellan and DJ McCarthy were always contesting and never giving anything soft to our opponents. Up front Eddie Stack and Keaven kept their defence honest with some strong running. In the second half Keaven added a second before Cian got a third and it looked that we would sail home. We had introduced Sean Vieux, Jack Falvey, Con Marley ,Conor Lenihan and CiaranTuite in this half which is a measure of the strength of this squad that we can players of that quality on the bench. With 15 minutes to go Asdee had a shot from the edge of the box which bounced down near the goal line but David dived like a cat among the crowd of players onto the ball but to everyone’s amazement a penalty was awarded which was duly scored. We fought a rearguard action for the rest of the game and conceded a late 2nd  to make it a nervous finish but we held out to get a great victory. Well done to the players and the management team and remember training is Wednesday night at 7 in Fenit(for U12s and 13s, new players welcome too) and please come dressed for the weather.
