U12s Unfortunate In Atrocious Conditions

Samphires U12s played Ballyhar last weekend in very difficult weather conditions. We played against the elements in the first half with the driving wind and rain into our faces. Our lads tried their very best depite everything but conceded 4 times during this half.Much of this can be put down to the weather as we couldn’t break out of our half a lot of the time. We let in a soft one right at the start of the second half which left us a mountain to climb but after this we played very well and dominated the game thereafter. The weather abated a bit during this half and Balyhar were dangerous on the break but with Micheal O’Sullivan in goal and a defence of Ciaran Tuite,Dara Heim,Paddy Walsh and Tommy Burns we didn’t concede many chances. In midfield Niall Cassidy had a super game and showing some good touches and awareness in possession. Sean Vieux in the middle of the pitch did very well also and made many telling interceptions. On the flanks were Paddy O’Sullivan and Eddie McCarthy and both worked their socks off. Up front our 2 forwards of Edward Stack and Oisin Horgan can both be pleased with their day’s work as they both scored in the second half. In addition Oisin hit the post and both had some narrow wides. We also had a goal disallowed for a marginal offside. All in all we nearly forced a great comeback so great credit is due to all the lads who played on the day. The training during the week is starting to pay off but it’s important that all players keep training regularly. We would ask all parents to please make contact with the club if their son is not available to play a match as we had only the bare 11 even though we have 15 or 16 training for the team during the week. Also with the dip in the weather please ensure that the players come properly prepared to training and matches with hats, gloves, tracksuits etc.
