U16s Draw Away in Killorglin

Our U16 team went to Killorglin last Saturday for another league game. We had drawn with their ‘A’  team a fortnight ago and were feeling confident about playing their ‘B’ team. We were still without quite a number of players but we had capable replacements with some of our U15 team. It finished 2 all but we would feel that we lost 2 points rather than gaining 1.  We started poorly perhaps reflecting an overconfidence and found ourselves 1 down after 10 minutes and were lucky that stand in ‘keeper Jack McCarthy was smart off his line to put off one of their players from making it 2 after 20 minutes. We woke up at this stage and started to dominate and scored twice after a series of attacks both through Sean Higgins. Cian MacGarry was a threat all the time especially with Bobby O’Regan and Thomas Lenihan playing clever through balls. At the back a makeshift defence of Jamie Hogan, Padraig O’Connor, Antoin Stanton and Thomas Dwyer were doing well to contain the opposing attack. David Murphy and David Egan achieved parity in the middle but both will be a little disappointed that they didn’t dominate as they usually do. In the second half the game moved on like the first but gradually the game got stretched and both teams were looking like scoring. We introduced Luke Dalton and he  looked dangerous and did well up front for us.  We failed to take the chances that came our way and a mix up in our box ended up with the ball in our net and that’s how it finished.  Hard luck to the lads but well done on the effort that was put in.
