U12 Draw With Killorglin

Samphires U12s 3 Killorglin B U12s 3 – We hosted Killorglin in a league fixture last Saturday still chasing our first points of the season after 2 defeats in the first 2 games. Our defending in those first 2 games was a big part of our problems and over the past few weeks our lads have worked very hard in training to rectify this. And last Saturday it showed when our back 4 in particular plus our keeper played very well as a defensive unit and didn’t give up half as many chances as in the previous games. David in goals made a number of saves and was sharp off his line when the occasion demanded. Our back 4 of Michael, Colm, Con and Aaron held their shape pretty well throughout the match. Our midfield quartet (Dara,Gavin,Cian and Eddie) were very creative offensively and made more chances than we scored but will need to help the defence out in future as we were quite open at times. Up front our 2 strikers, Paddy and Sean were dangerous and showed a great desire to score which is the most vital ingredient of any striker. We went 1 up after some good work by Cian and Dara on the right st Paddy up to score after 10 minutes. We went 2 up in the 25th minute when Cian scored after some good interplay between Gavin, Eddie and Sean. We went 3 up in the second half through Paddy again after Colm won a ball in defence and got us on the attack before Killorglin could get their shape. Unfortunately we conceded soon after and then a second. So 3-2 to us and Sean was fouled and we had a penalty but a great save kept us out and they soon scored again with their tails up. We steadied the ship at this stage and the game was end to end for the last 10 minutes but it ended honours even. Well done to all the lads on the day on gaining the first point of the season.
