Under 14s Unlucky

Last Thursday evening we travelled to Camp to play our first game of the season. The game was an even affair throughout and we were probably unlucky not to get a point. The game started a hundred miles an hour typical of the first game of a new campaign. Both teams were unable to get a stranglehold and everything was keenly contested everywhere. Eventually we succumbed to a ball over the top followed by a cool finish. We responded and eventually forced an equaliser through our strikeforce of Oisin Le Gros and Sean Donnellan after some great work of our 2 centre men of Christopher Murphy and Cormac O’Brien with Christopher finally forcing the ball home. Brian O’Regan in goals was top class and brave throughout and the back four of Stephen Dolan, Padraig O’Mahony, Ciaran Carmody ansd Adrian Nolan combined well in their first game together. New boys Adrian and Stephen were excellent throughout. Ossie Clifford and David Lenihan on the wings worked tirelessly up and down and were a great source of chances for the team. The second half was fairly even affair with some last gasp defending on both ends of the pitch with Carmo in particular taking one in the head for the team to save a certain goal midway through the half. We introduced Fiachra Ennis with 20 left and he added hugely to our team and is one for the future. With 6 minutes to go we conceded when it looked like we would be the ones to score and with us on the hunt for an equaliser they scored again on the counter. Even then our lads pushed on, we even hit the bar but it was not to be but well done to both teams for a very entertaining game. We showed that we are the races and with some hard work on the training ground we will pick up points very soon.
