Our under 12 team went to Asdee last Saturday to play Asdee in their first match of the new league but lost eventually 6-2 to the hosts despite being in the game for a very long time. The first half was keenly contested with both teams eager to impress. We went 1 down after 12 minutes after a shot from the wing ended up high in the roof of the net. Most of the goals we conceded were similar and no blame can be attached to Sean in goals who had a fine game. Jack at right back was excellent and saved us on many occasions. Con,Max and Tom were our other 3 defenders and coped very well. Our midfield trio of Cian,Darragh and David tried hard against their 4 and until we tired deep in the second half you would have to say we shaded it here. Up front Paddy and Gavin did very well and threatened throughout. Indeed Paddy scored a free witha scorcher that their keeper was unable to hold. Our other goal was worthy of the Champions League with Jack releasing Darragh on the right. He skipped past 3 challenges and amazingly cut the ball back from the endline to the edge of the box to the on rushing Cian who buried it to put us 2-1 up. Just before half time they equalised with another long distance effort and repeated the dose just after half time. We only had 10 players vs their 11 and we were short in midfield where all the shots came from. This was to be our downfall as we ran out of puff and they scored 3 quick goals near the to finish the game. Our management were delighted with the effort the team put in and all the players and management deserve a big pat on the back. A number of players who promised to be at the game failed to show and we would appeal to those players to make their mind up regarding making a committment to train and play with us.
