Samphires U13s Edge Out Ballyhar In Friendly

Last weekend we played Ballyhar in a friendly at home. Both teams were without a few regulars but the players who were on show put on a top class show of football. It was a contrast of 2 styles, Fenit with a passing game that relies on the players ability to pass and move versus the more direct style of Ballyhar who have the power to make it pay. After 45 seconds Samphires were 1 down after failing to oppose a Ballyhar midfielder at the edge of the box who powerfully finished off a good move. Samphires bucked themselves up and equalised after 10 minutes after a smashing piece of play out of the back from Ciaran Murray in goals to Ciaran Carmody at right back.He found David Lenihan who had gone wide on the wing who beat his man and crossed for Sean Donnellan to score at the back post.  Following this Samphires missed a penalty but soon after went 2 -1 up after some clever interplay up front involving Christopher Murphy and Eoghan McElligott. In the second half the scores went 3-1,3-2, 4-2, 4-3 and in the last minute 5-3. In defence we must also mention Padraig O’Mahony and Liam O’Donnell who were outstanding throughout. Well done to all the lads on the day. It was an excellent performance. Keep it up.
