U14s Lose Out To Park

Last Saturday saw us travel in to Tralee to play the Park in the league. We ended up losing 5 nil to a well drilled Park team who will surely contend for the title towards the end of the season. We had a poor first half and were 4 down at the interval. During that first half we started fairly well and were well in the game for 20 minutes but a reshuffled team from the last game started to creak as the tempo went up and their wide men began to get behind us and cause us problems. After 25 minutes the inevitable happened and they scored from a cross. From this point to the half our heads seemed to drop a bit and this is enough for the top teams to punish you. In the last 10 minutes of the half we conceded another 3 and we must admit that our defending as a team in this part of the game was not at all as disciplined as it needs to be for this division. At half time our lads resolved that they would fight to win the 2nd half and not give up which is very much to their credit and in the second half we conceded one and missed a penalty of our own. We showed in the second half what we can do when we believe in ourselves but we must play hard for the full duration of the game. Players who played well throughout the whole game were Oisin O’Brien in goals,Fionan Mackessy at centre back (who retired with an injury at half time), Jack McCarthy and Thomas Lenihan in midfield who had a stormer.
