U11s Get First Victory of 2012

Our U11s have been improving steadily in the last few games but have not been able to get a result. All that changed today at home against Camp A with a superb performance by all 11 players. The weather was cold and damp and the pitch was like a skating rink but we still managed to play some great passing football. We went a goal down 15 minutes into the game with a own goal which was a misunderstanding between the defense and our keeper. This seemed to boost us on and while Camp put us under pressure all through the first half, our defense of Sean and Harry Vieux, Gavin Hussey and Colm Healy were strong and our keeper, David Ryle made some crucial saves. We made a few changes at half-time and put Keevan and Adam into defense and both were strong keeping Camp from scoring. A through ball from Keevan straight to Gavin who put away a fantastic strike brought us level with about 10 minutes to go. Colm had moved up front and his strength was proving to be a problem to Camp and he got a well deserved goal to put us 2-1 up. Cian Donnellan had been causing problems all day in mid-field and a great pass from Brian through to Cian who passed to Gavin and Gavin was never going to miss another chance to score. 3-1 to us and one minute to go. Sean Clifford has really found his form down our right wing and he placed a fantastic pass to Jack Falvey, who had been brilliant in the middle of the park, and it was fitting that he got a lovely tap into goal just before the final whistle. Camp were a strong sporting team but for once it was Fenit’s day and well down to our boys whose hard work has finally paid off.
