The 15s March On

The Samphires Under 15s were away last weekend against Listowel B in the league. It turned out to be a great display from our lads against an understrength opponent and we ended up easy winners. We started very quickly and were 1 up after a minute when Cian scored when he broke through after playing a neat 1 – 2 with David Egan. David is proving to be quite an addition and even though he didn’t score on the day he was involved in most of our offensive play. We were 2 up after 5 mins and 3 up after 10 with a 2nd from Cian and Ryan from outside the box. Then with the aid of a gale force wind Ryan scored direct from a corner and with the match only a quarter old it was over as a contest. Our midfield quartet of Padraig, Jimmy, Ryan and Thomas were totally dominant. In particular Thomas was very effective especially in combination with right back David Murphy and the aforementioned Ryan who were pinging the passes all day. Our back 5 of Eoghan, David, John O, Eric and Jamie were in control when they needed to be, constantly recycled the ball from one side to another and turned defence into attack in an instant. We introduced Gordon(who scored 2), Jack, Bobby, Sean(who scored 2 as well) and Antoin for the second half against the ferocious wind without weakening the team and we were comfortable winners in the end. It also should be said that the Listowel team kept going to end and made it difficult for us throughout.
